"let's shield his vision, Psychic" shouted Misty to her star pokemon, the confuse ray had been successful but the movement of the dragon was superior in terms of speed. Thankfully the distance between them had been slightly substantial. The water below seemed to erupt creating a veil thanks to the manipulative move known as psychic. This veil of water would hide the Starmie from view of the fast moving pokemon and it's trainer. As the fast moving dragon pokemon shot through the harmless veil with its dragon attack it would strike the star, the red headed girl had miss judged her opponents speed. As Starmie was her final pokemon she was unable to have the Star pokemon return. That move would have been the end of Starmie had it been struck straight after the combination, but with full health the Star pokemon seemed to simply bound back up. [color=cyan]"Starmie, Psychic" shouted Misty. What was the aim of this move now?

It was simple, This psychics aim was to take control of none other than the dragon pokemon itself. Constricting its body, Squishing it and causing psychic based damage while at the same time throwing it straight in to the air like a weightless doll. If this was successful, Misty would then order her star pokemon to release the hydro pump attack, The hydro pump was not aimed directly at the dragon but was used slightly below the dragon type. Hoping for it to fall directly in to the attack.

"Tch!" Tsubasa looked on as he improvised. This Starmie had already taken out his second best Pokemon with ease despite the Dark Pulse it possessed, and Dratini would be this trainer's last chance at securing the second gym badge. He was sure he had estimated the extent of the Starmie's power just right but somehow it was stronger than anticipated. If the Dratini fails, he would be forced to use his currently useless Magikarp to somehow beat the Starmie. Calculating the chances of that to be astronomically low, Tsubasa decided that he had to hit Starmie hard with the Dratini and ensure that the dragon lasts throughout the battle, and take out the opposing Pokemon without forcing him to call out the Magikarp.

Misty clearly upped the ante with the new display and Tsubasa instantly recognized this to be one of her better and more clever  maneuvers. Tsu had not miscalculated and despite the effort to distract the oncoming assailant and evade the attack, the Starmie had failed and Dratini connected with its Dragon Tail. However, Tsu knew that his worries were only beginning. He was sure that even if he did give an order, it would be of no use as the confused Dratini was unable to move. With his view obstructed, he was entirely helpless as the Starmie caught the confused dragon with Psychic and hurt and tossed it into the air with the psychic powers. "Shit...." Tsu muttered as Starmie shot a Hydro Pump and connected. The dragon took a direct hit and crashed hard into the water below.

A loud splash followed a pained screech from the dragon as it hit the water hard at an angle and did not stop at the surface but instead kept going deeper. The splashes eventually came to a halt and once again the participants of the battle were in a pause. There was no sign of Dratini for what seemed like an eternity. The few seconds of suspense would have been overwhelming for any spectators, and perhaps even for the participants themselves. The challenger reached for his pokeball for a brief moment, barely touching it. "Hmph." He let go of the device. In the next two seconds he would make a deduction of the hand he was now dealt with.

Tsu knew that his serpent had better special defense than defense but that still did not mean that it possessed particularly exceptional  special defense. The Starmie on the other hand had decent special attack. If the Dratini had not been resistant to water, the battle could have ended on the spot. The trainer concluded that the Dratini was probably not entirely out of the equation yet. It was unable to act due to confusion a moment ago and had been ravaged mercilessly in no time.

Tsu could only hope that Dratini snapped out of the confusion or at least gathers itself soon. Starmie's HP was not particularly high, and Dratini had a fairly decent attack power with which it struck a same type attack boost enhanced Dragon Tail once. The dragon happened to have Dragon Rage in its arsenal. This move was one that inflicted a fixed amount of HP damage to all Pokemon completely disregarding the status points. He improvised a plan immediately. His dragon, however, was severely damaged and if it sustains any more hits the consequences could be disastrous for the trainer. The challenger can only hope that his initial strike had dealt enough damage for this surprise ambush to terminate or handicap the Starmie.

"Dragon Rage!" He swung his arm across his chest. A giant ball of energy manifested beneath the surface of the pool and rapidly accelerated towards the Starmie. The ball would appear larger and larger in Starmie's perspective as it emerged from the water with every intent to harm and immobilize. The Pokemon and its trainer knew each other so well and were able to predict each other exceptionally. They were in sync as the ball formed when Tsu's arm left his side and emerged from the water when the arm reached the other side of the chest.

Tsu could not use Thunderbolt from underwater without making the Dratini knock itself out. He decided to rely on its high attack stat instead. As soon as the Dragon Rage emerged from the water, Dratini would shoot out with Aqua Jet immensely helping it attain a boost to its already enhanced speed, and attempt to strike the Starmie with another Dragon Tail regardless of whether or not the Dragon Rage strikes. In addition to inflicting damage, this would been attempt at sending the opposing pokemon flying and in the process taking its spot on the platform.

The end result, if successful, would be Dratini on the platform with an injured, severely injured, or knocked out Starmie in the water or mid air. If the maneuver had failed to assure victory, Dratini would be at the ready to fire a Thunderbolt. However, the dragon would only be ready to and wait for Tsu's cue. However, the time makes it impossible for Tsu to order the dragon, or the dragon itself to react, before Misty does. Nevertheless, a setup for a final conflict is the ambition of the last few seconds.

It would seem the Starmie had finally managed to land not only one, but two rather powerful attacks upon the dragon type pokemon. Even though the water type move would be less effective it was still one of the stronger water type moves currently known. "Way to go Starmie, that was awesome. Now lets use RECOVER" she shouted with a smile. This move would be used as the Dragon type flew from the water move, Misty had stepped up her game. She had tried to avoid the previous attacks but was to slow, thankfully she still had recover and it had only been used once. This meant that the Starmie would not only gain health, the amount would most likely put it back to the highest possible due to the fact she had rarely actually used the move. "So what do you think of my Starmie, It's one of a kind right?"  she states rather than asks.

As if to shut her up, the powerful rage of the dragon in all its blue might would connect with the mighty Star pokemon. Upon the blue power vanishing the Starmie would seemingly be left standing unscathed. It would seem at the moment Starmie could do no wrong and was indeed one of Misty's Trump card. "STARMIE let's meet them head on RAPID SPIN" Shouted the red headed girl. As Starmie began to move the star was moving sluggishly, it would seem that though her health had radiated and increased its stamina had failed it, she needed to rest. The dragon rage had done damage but it seemed not to show on the powerful Starmie,  "OH NO" shouted Misty as she stood, helpless unable to do anything except watch her Starmie being struck by the powerful Dragon tail. After battling two pokemon Starmie was bound to feel the effects eventually.

The Starmie did not have a chance to fall, it was struck and began to descend but was captured by a light, a red light that pulled it to the safety of its Pokeball. Though as quick as it was returned, the ginger headed female would open the ball of her star pokemon. "Recover" she would say softly as she walked forward, her hand upon the star as it shone. The sound ended but the recover move had only managed to pull it out of the red. "Well done, I Misty, gym leader of Cerulean City admit defeat, you were a fantastic opponent" she would say as she walked forward with her Starmie. From her pocket she would remove a box. openign the box revealed a plush red velvet lining and sat upon it was the Cerulean gym badge.  Clearing the gap to the trainer she would hold the box open for him to take the badge. "This is the Cascade Badge, it shows that you beat this gym and with six others will allow you to challenge the pokemon league" she would say. Once he had taken the gym she would continue speaking. "I'd also like you to have this, It's TM03 and it contains Water Pulse. Like the move Dragon breath it has a secondary ability, it not only damages but can leave foes confused. and finally as per the norm for losing to you, here's some cash" she would say pulling a wad out of her pocket. Counting it she would mumble before handing $1.300 Pokedollars to her opponent. "You were amazing" she would say when all the transactions were handled.

Gains,exp,levels:

As if by fate, a beautiful white light began to emit from the pokemon known as Dratini, "It looks like your Dratini's evolving, though if you have a pokedex you can cancel it, What are you going to let it do? Misty asked curiously watching the beginning of Dratinis evolution.

Tsubasa watched nervously as the gym leader instructed the Starmie to use Recover. He was sure that the chances of annihilating the recovered enemy were much lower than what he estimated for the injured one. Against all odds, everything went according to his plan anyway and therein lied his satisfaction. Grinning, he watched as the Dragon Rage struck the target hard and immobilized it for a moment which was long enough for the follow up attack to strike much harder and successfully terminate the opponent, assuring his victory.

However, he was a little disappointed as he was denied the chance to electrocute and fry the Starmie which caused him so much trouble. The long and tedious battle with the second gym leader of Kanto was finally over, and it felt like it lasted for about ten months! The damages caused to the arena were not minimal but luckily there was no serious aftermath. This disappointed the trainer more, for he would have loved to thrash the place and burn it down as soon as he received the Cascade Badge. Each moment of this battle, as exciting as each one was, was tedious and stressful. Although the confrontation had its moments, much of it was an unpleasant experience for a trainer who almost never considers the possibility of losing a battle.

On this day, his limits were tested and there were times in which he seriously considered his defeat as a possibility. By some luck a lot of tactical improvising, the trainer was able to prevent that but now has begun to see the Pokemon League in a different light. This was no joke and he had decided to take on a challenge which will push him to his limits and test him at every turn. His grin would grow wider at this realization as he approached the gym leader. Resisting the urge to express his desire to dismember and cripple the star pokemon, he shook her hand and thanked her for the exciting display before gladly accepting the rewards that she had to offer. He placed them in their respective places in his backpack before turning his attention to his Dratini.

The already elongated serpent had begun to shine and glow pure white and appeared to grow even longer. The dragon had already been quite close to evolving before the fight had started, and Tsubasa had been anticipating this transformation for quite some time. Uninterrupted, the dragon evolved into its second stage. The glow diminished and a beautiful blue dragon revealed itself. Its skin was smooth and flawless and its eyes were dark and glossy. With a magnificent roar, he returned to his pokeball at Tsu's command.

"Hmph." He turned around and headed towards the door, content to finally leave the compartment in which he had been provided with the most tedious of experiences. Nevertheless, it was the toughest battle he had enrolled in so far and subconsciously desired some more of the same kind in the near future. That is not to say he did not outright want to burn the gym to the ground.
